Citadines Salcedo Makati
1st Citadines-branded serviced-residence in PH tops out
Barely a month after the topping out of Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila, The Ascott Limited — the world’s largest international serviced residence owner-operator — has announced the structural completion of another of its serviced residences in the Philippines.
Set to open in the first quarter of 2014, the 215-unit Citadines Salcedo Makati will be the first Citadines-branded serviced residence in the country.
Arthur Gindap, Ascott’s Regional General Manager for the Philippines and Thailand said: “The launch of Citadines in the country complements our existing Ascott and Somerset serviced residences, giving expatriates and business travellers more choices to suit their lifestyle needs.
“With Citadines Salcedo Makati, we will be able tap into the growing market segment of savvy, independent travellers who value urban living in prime locations and the flexibility to choose the services they require for a unique stay experience.” Gindap said.
Citadines Salcedo Makati is one of Ascott’s upcoming properties in the Philippines. The company will also open Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila in 2014 and Citadines Millennium Ortigas Manila in 2015. Currently, Ascott operates three properties in the Philippines—Ascott Makati, Somerset Millennium Makati and Somerset Olympia Makati.
The Salcedo Makati project offers a choice of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment units. Every unit in the 38-storey serviced residence combine modern comforts with business connectivity. The cleverly configured spaces offer separate living, dining and sleeping areas, all while broadband internet, IDD access keep guests well-connected. Another main feature is the flexible menu of services, which allows guests to personalize their stay experience.
Ascott acquired the Citadines chain of apart’hotels in Europe in 2002 and brought the brand to Asia Pacific in 2006. Currently, there are about 70 Citadines-branded serviced residences in Asia Pacific and Europe.

Ascott building more property projects in PH
International serviced residences operator The Ascott Limited said it plans to build more properties in other parts of the Philippines.
“We can do more [than just 10 properties], because we have a great story. Our brands are proven to get good business in times of crisis, when everybody else are on the brink of distress or closing down,” Ascott regional general manager for Philippines and Thailand Arthur Gindap told reporters in a news briefing Thursday.
Gindap said the company was looking at Metro Cebu as the first possible site for expansion outside Metro Manila. It is also looking at the reclaimed portion of Manila Bay as a new site.
The company is set to open Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila and Citadines Salcedo Makati in 2014, Citadines Millennium Ortigas in 2015 and Somerset Alabang Manila in 2017.
“We are confident in the Philippines’ sustained economic growth and see tremendous potential for serviced residences. With our four upcoming properties, we will more than double this figure in the next four years,” said Gindap.
“This defines our bullishness in the Philippines. Our Philippine properties posted a total of P1.24 billion worth of combined revenues in 2012 with P758.8 million in profit. These figures drive us towards maintaining a bullish stand in the market as we push for more expansions within and outside of Metro Manila,” he said.
