MANILA - Okura Hotels & Resorts will set up shop at the future Bayshore City Resorts World, marking the Japanese hotel chain's entry into the Philippine market.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Travellers International Hotel Group Inc said Hotel Okura Manila will offer approximately 380 rooms and the planned construction site for the hotel will cover approximately 38,000 square meters at the Bayshore City Resorts World.

Bayshore City Resorts World will be the second integrated resort and entertainment complex of Travellers after Resorts World Manila in Newport City, located across Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.

Hotel Okura’s foray into the Philippine market is part of its expansion into developing Asian markets, following the opening of the five-star hotel in Macau and in Bangkok in 2011 and 2012, respectively, Travellers said.

Okura Hotels inked an agreement with Resorts World Bayshore City Inc (RWBCI), owner and operator of Bayshore City Resorts World. Travellers owns 95 percent of RWBCI.

Apart from Hotel Okura, Bayshore City Resorts World will be home to other international hotel brands that include The Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore of the Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts group, as well as the Genting Grand and Crockfords Tower of the Genting group.

Bayshore City Resorts World is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2018, becoming the last licensee of state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor) to launch its integrated resort development in Entertainment City. Construction will start later this year.

Bayshore City Resorts World will feature attractions and facilities such as a 3,000-seater Grand Opera House, entertainment and gaming facilities, a commercial complex with retail components offering the latest style in fashion, department stores, food and beverage outlets and cinemas.

Travellers is a joint venture between AGI and Genting Hong Kong. The holding firm of Philippine billionaire Andrew Tan has interests in property development, tourism estate development, food and beverage manufacturing and distribution, and quick service restaurants.

Bayshore signs Okura management agreement

RESORTS WORLD Bayshore City, Inc. (RWBCI) on Tuesday said it signed a deal with Japan’s Okura Hotels & Resorts for the management and operation of a 380-room hotel in the $1.1-billion Bayshore City Resorts World at the state-run Entertainment City.
The five-star Hotel Okura Manila will be the first Okura hotel in the country, after the Japanese company entered the Macau and Bangkok markets in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc., which now owns 95% of RWBCI, said in a statement that this is “in line with its (Okura Hotels’) overseas development strategy of focusing on developing Asian markets.”

The planned site for the hotel has an area of around 38,000 square meters.

Projected to open in the fourth quarter of 2018, Bayshore City Resorts World will have at least 1,500 hotel rooms offered by Okura, Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore of the Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts group; and Genting Grand and Crockfords Tower of the Genting group.

It will also house a 3,000-seat theater and a commercial complex.

Travellers International, the operator of Resorts World Manila in Newport City and a joint venture between Alliance Global and Genting Hong Kong Ltd., reported a 24.73% year-on-year jump in its first-half net profit to P2.88 billion.

Hotel Okura inks deal with Bayshore

Travellers International Hotel Groups, Inc. said unit Resorts World Bayshore City, Inc., has signed an agreement with Japanese hotel operator Okura Hotels & Resorts for its integrated resort business in Pagcor City in Paranaque.

Travellers said the Japanese hotel chain will bring its Hotel Okura Manila into RWBCI’s 30.5-hectare Bayshore City Resorts World.

“In line with its overseas development strategy of focusing on developing Asian markets, Hotel Okura is set to open at the Entertainment City in Manila, following the launch of five-star Okura hotels in Macau and Bangkok in 2011 and 2012, respectively,” the company said in a statement.

Travellers said Hotel Okura Manila will occupy approximately 38,000 square meters at the Bayshore City Resorts World and will offer 380 guest rooms.

Kingson Sian, Travellers president, said the first phase of Bayshore City Resorts World is set for opening by 2018

The first phase will be comprised of three hotel brands, two of which are Okura and Westin, which will have more than 800 rooms.

Resorts World Bayshore will be the last to open its doors out of the four licensees in Pagcor City. The first one to open was Bloomberry Resorts Corp.’s Solaire Resort and Casino last year. This will be followed by the partnership of Belle Corp., and Macau-based Melco Crown City of Dreams Manila.

Japanese Tiger Resort and Entertainment, Inc. is eyeing to open by 2016.

Travellers has committed to spend at least $1.1 billion to bring to operation the second biggest property in flagship project of the Philippines’ gaming regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).

Resorts World Bayshore phase one was supposed to open by 2016 but the timetable was moved to a later date due to the delay in Pagcor’s turnover of the land to Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc., Alliance Global’s gaming vehicle in partnership with Malaysia-based Genting Berhad.

Sian said the first phase will make use of a third of the total property that will also include shops and a 3,000-seater theater on top of the gaming amenities.

$1.1-B Resorts World Bayshore breaks ground

Resorts World Bayshore City Inc. (RWBCI) broke ground on Wednesday at the Bagong Nayong Pilipino Entertainment City complex in Parañaque City for the development of the $1.1-billion Resorts World Bayshore. The resorts project will open in 2018.

RWBCI is 95 percent owned and controlled by the Andrew Tan-led Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., an integrated gaming, hotel and resorts developer.

“The 31-hectare Resorts World Bayshore City will complete the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.’s (Pagcor) Entertainment City comprised of four integrated resorts, which are expected to significantly contribute to Philippine Tourism in the coming years,” the company said.

The four integrated gaming and resorts developments in Entertainment City are the Resorts World Bayshore, City of Dreams Manila, The Manila Bay Resorts, and the Solaire Resort & Casino.

The project’s Phase 1, or the inital 16 hectares of the development, will consist of four new hotel brands that will have more than 800 rooms, casino and shops, and more than 3,000-seater Grand Opera House, among others.

The hotel brands to be opened within the Phase 1 include Okura Hotel Manila of the Okura Hotels & Resorts Group, The Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore of the Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts Group, as well as the Genting Grand and Crockfords Tower under the Genting Hong Kong Group.
The whole development is seen to generate more than 1,500 hotel rooms upon completion.

“Travellers’ 95-percent ownership of RWBCI effectively makes us the biggest leisure and entertainment company in the Philippines. Combined, the two properties will offer potentially a total of 5,100 hotel rooms,” Travellers President Kingson Sian said.

“With the current developments at both Resorts World Manila and Bayshore City Resorts World properties, Travellers continues to push the envelope in the integrated resort industry as it will be the only player in the country to house Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, and Westin hotels, which are the top choices for business travelers when it comes to the best loyalty programs for guests, according to Fortune Magazine,” he added.

Travellers grew its first semester net income by 25 percent to P2.9 billion compared to P2.3 billion a year ago on strong hotel occupancy of Maxims, Remington, and Marriott hotels within the Resorts World Manila.

For 2014, the company earmarked P7 billion for capital expenditures to speed up Resorts World Manila’s Phase 2 and Phase 3 expansion, which would add 2,400 hotel rooms by 2017.

Travellers breaks ground for $1B casino complex

MANILA, Philippines–INTEGRATED gaming resort developer Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. on Wednesday broke ground for a new $1.1-billion complex called Resorts World Bayshore City, targeted to create 8,000 new jobs when it opens at Pagcor Entertainment City by the last quarter of 2018.
Travellers, a partnership between tycoon Andrew Tan-led Alliance Global Group Inc. and the Genting group, seeks to replicate in Pagcor City the success of Resorts World Manila in Newport City, the country’s first integrated complex, which is also being expanded.

This new integrated gaming resort, which will rise on a 31-hectare site in Bayshore City, is a project of Resorts World Bayshore City Inc. (RWBCI), a 95-percent subsidiary of Travellers.

The first phase of the Bayshore City complex will offer at least 1,500 rooms, operated by international brands such as the Genting group’s “Genting Grand” and “Crockfords Tower.”

Resorts World Manila executive vice president Steve Riley told reporters during the ground-breaking rites that for the first phase of development that would occupy 12 hectares of the site, Bayshore City would have 77,000 square meters of retail space, a 3,000-seater theater and multiple cinemas apart from the gaming space. The complex will also offer residential condominium towers as well as conference and exhibition facilities.

Being the last among the four gaming licensees to open its complex in Pagcor City, Riley said the “last-mover’ advantage would be Bayshore City’s ability to offer something “new, shiny and fantastic” apart from benefiting from the foot traffic already developed in the area by other licensees.

The first complex in Pagcor City, Bloomberry Resorts Corp.’s Solaire Resort & Casino, opened early last year and is opening a new wing before yearend.
City of Dreams Manila, a partnership between the SM group and Macau’s Melco Crown group, is set to open before the end of the year. Another complex, Manila Bay Resorts of Japanese tycoon Kazuo Okada, is under construction.

Travellers expects to be the biggest leisure and entertainment company in the Philippines, with the two Resort World properties offering a total of about 5,100 hotel rooms, said Travellers president Kingson Sian.

Travellers breaks ground for 2nd Resorts World property

MANILA, Philippines - Resorts World Bayshore City Inc. on Wednesday broke ground for its new casino-resort project in Entertainment City, Paranaque.

With construction of Bayshore City Resorts World now underway, the project expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2018.

The $1.1 billion project will be part of PAGCOR's Entertainment City, which envisioned to become one of the top gaming hubs in the world.

RWBCI, the developer and operator of Bayshore City, is 95 percent-owned by Travellers International Hotel Group, which is a joint venture of tycoon Andrew Tan and Malaysia's Genting Group.

Bayshore City Resort World is Travellers' second project, after Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.

"Travellers' 95 percent ownership of RWCBI effectively makes us the biggest leisure and entertainment company in the Philippines. Combined, the two properties will offer potentially a total of approximately 5,100 hotel rooms," said Travellers president Kingson Sian.

Bayshore City Resorts World is projected to have at least 1,500 hotel rooms to be operated by international brands such as Starwood group's The Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore, Japan-based Okura group's Hotel Okura Manila and Genting group's Genting Grand and Crockfords Tower.

Aside from hotels, Bayshore City will also have a mall, a 3,000-seater Grand Opera House, and commercial complex.

Resorts World Manila operator begins construction of new casino along Manila Bay

MANILA - (UPDATED 5:38 p.m.) The operator of Resorts World Manila broke ground today on its second casino project in a bid to become the country's biggest leisure and entertainment company.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Travellers International Hotel Group Inc president Kingson Sian said the joint venture between Alliance Global Group Inc (AGI) and Genting Hong Kong is shelling out at least $1.1 billion to develop the Bayshore City Resorts World.

Set to open in the fourth quarter of 2018, Bayshore City Resorts World will be developed in three phases, with the initial phase accounting for 12 hectares of the 31-hectare property, Resorts World Manila chief operating officer Stephen Reilly told reporters.

Bayshore City Resorts World will add at least 1,500 hotel rooms operated by international brands that include Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore of the Starwood Asia Pacific Hotel and Resorts Group, Hotel Okura Manila of the Okura Hotels & Resorts and the Genting Grand and Crockfords Tower of the Genting Group.

"We expect that Travellers will be the biggest leisure and entertainment company in the Philippines, with the two Resorts World properties offering a total of about 5,100 hotel rooms," Sian said.

Travellers owns 95 percent of Resorts World Bayshore City Inc (RWBCI), the developer and operator Bayshore City Resorts World.

Travellers also owns Resorts World Manila, which opened in 2009 as the country's first integrated casino resort.

Resorts World Manila is also in expansion mode with the construction of Marriott West Wing, Sheraton Hotrel Manila, Hilton Hotel Manila and Maxims Annex.

"With the current developments at both Resorts World Manila and Bayshore City Resorts World properties, Travellers continues to push the envelope in the integrated resort industry as it will be the only player that offers global brands like Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton and Westin and Okura hotels," Sian said.

"Our hotel rooms will provide accommodation to about 1.5 million tourists a year, which will greatly support the government's goal of attracting 10 million tourists by 2020," he added.

Bayshore City Resorts World will also feature a 3,000-seater Grand Opera House, an upscale commercial complex, condominiums, 10 cinemas, food and beverage outlets, and facilities catering to the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) market.

The first phase of the project will offer over 77,000 square meters of retail space, Reilly said.

Bayshore City Resorts World will complete Entertainment City, a gaming hub along Manila Bay organized by state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor).

"Bayshore City Resorts World will be the last to open here in Entertainment City so once all the offerings are seen, guaranteed the last will always have something new shiny fantastic offering. It's a great position to be the first mover and the last mover," Reilly said.

The other Pagcor licensees are Solaire Resort and Casino of ports magnate Enrique Razon; City of Dreams Manila, a joint venture between retail magnate Henry Sy and Macau-based Melco Crown Entertainment; and Manila Bay Resorts of Japanese billionaire Kazuo Okada.

Bayshore Resorts starts construction

Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. on Wednesday broke ground for the $1.1-billion integrated resort and casino called Bayshore City Resorts World in Parañaque City.

The groundbreaking formally started actual construction and development of the second Resorts World property in the country, with the completion date expected in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The development of the 31-hectare Bayshore City Resorts World will complete the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.’s Entertainment City complex, comprised of four integrated resorts.

Bayshore City Resorts World is projected to have at least 1,500 hotel rooms operated by international brands which include The Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore of the Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts group, the Hotel Okura Manila of the Okura Hotels & Resorts and the Genting Grand and Crockfords Tower of the Genting group.

The development will feature a 3,000-seat grand Opera House, over 77,000 square meters of retail space condominiums, cinemas, food and beverage outlets and MICE facilities.

Phase 1 will cover a total of 12 hectares. Two more phases are currently being planned.

Resorts World Manila, the first Travellers-owned and operated property in Pasay, is also currently undergoing expansion.

“Travellers’ 95-percent ownership of RWBCI effectively makes us the biggest leisure and entertainment company in the Philippines. Combined, the two properties will offer potentially a total of approximately 5,100 hotel rooms,” said Travellers president Kingson Sian.

“With the current developments at both Resorts World Manila and Bayshore City Resorts World properties, Travellers continues to push the envelope in the integrated resort industry as it will be the only player in the country to house Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton and Westin hotels,” he said.

Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the city was expected to benefit from the development in terms of additional revenues and more jobs for residents.

Bayshore City Resorts World integrated complex is envisioned to become a premier travel destination.

It will be the fourth integrated resort and casino to rise in Entertainment City. The first three are Solaire Resorts & Casino of Bloomberry Resorts Corp., which opened in March 2013; City of Dreams Manila of Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corp., which will open later this year; and Manila Bay Resorts of Japanese billionaire Kazuo Okada, which will open next year.

Travellers’ Bayshore City casino resort breaks ground

Hotel Okura Manila [ hot | pro ] Travellers-Bayshore-City-Resorts-World-Philippines-ground-breaking-October-1-2014-e1413357927588

Philippine-based Travellers International Hotel Group Inc broke ground on its second casino resort, the US$1.1 billion Bayshore City Resorts World. The completion of the scheme is targeted for the last quarter of 2018, the company said in a filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

The initial phase of the project is expected to cover less than one-third of the entire 31-hectare (76.6-acre) site allocated by the country’s casino regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor).

Projected to have at least 1,500 hotel rooms, the development will also boast a casino, a 3,000-seater opera house, an upscale commercial complex, condominiums, cinemas and meeting and convention facilities, Travellers said.

The company, a joint venture between Philippine-based Alliance Global Group Inc and Genting Hong Kong Ltd, already operates the Resorts World Manila casino resort near Manila International Airport. The property had a first phase soft launch in August 2009 and is currently being expanded.

“Combined, the two properties will offer potentially a total of approximately 5,100 hotel rooms,” Travellers president Kingson Sian said in a statement. “With the current developments at both Resorts World Manila and Bayshore City Resorts World properties, Travellers continues to push the envelope in the integrated resort industry,” he added.

Bayshore City Resorts World will be the last of four multibillion dollar private sector casinos licensed by Pagcor in a bid to create a gaming zone called Entertainment City at Manila Bay and designed to rival the Cotai Strip in Macau.

Resorts World Bayshore City Inc, a subsidiary of Travellers and the operator of the property, formalised this week a partnership with Okura Hotels and Resorts. The Japanese firm will be responsible for the management and operation of the Hotel Okura Manila.

The scheme will also feature the Westin Hotels and Resorts brand and the ‘Genting Grand’ and ‘Crockfords Tower’, two brands under the Genting group portfolio.

“It all started with Resorts World Manila in 2009. And now, here we are witnessing the birth of a second Resorts World. When completed, Entertainment City will have one of the highest concentrations of tourism-oriented investments and hospitality employment in the country. Exciting times, indeed,” said Cristino Naguiat Jr., Pagcor’s chairman and chief executive.

TOKYO — Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. announced it will open Hotel Okura Manila (tentative name) in 2018, a new luxury resort in the Philippines. Okura has an agreement to manage the hotel with Resort World Bayshore City, Inc., a subsidiary of Philippines-based Travellers International Hotel Group Inc.

The hotel will be part of Bayshore City Resorts World, a large-scale integrated resort, which will be the last of four multibillion-dollar private-sector casinos licensed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation to create a gaming zone. Called Entertainment City, the zone will be located on Manila Bay in the City of Parañaque, Metro Manila. Bayshore City Resorts World will also have an opera house, an upscale commercial complex, condominiums, cinemas and convention facilities. It is only three kilometers (4.8 miles) from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and five kilometers (8 miles) from the City of Makati, the country’s main business district. The prime location positions the new Okura property as an ideal base for both leisure and business travelers.

The hotel’s plans include 380 rooms in a 13-story building that will occupy 38,000 square meters (409,000 square feet). It will offer state-of-the-art amenities and authentic Japanese hospitality. Facilities will include Japanese and other dining facilities, four meeting/banquet rooms, a spa and rooftop pool.

Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. plans growing its portfolio to 100 properties worldwide as the first stage of its expansion, with a focus on Asia. It opened Hotel Okura Macau in 2011, and The Okura Prestige Bangkok and The Okura Prestige Taipei in 2012. Hotel Okura’s subsidiary, JAL Hotels Co., Ltd., will open two new hotels in China, the Hotel Nikko Guangzhou next month and Hotel Nikko Suzhou in 2015; and Hotel Nikko Bangkok in Thailand in 2017.
