Robinsons Place Rises as Antipolo's New Landmark
The city has numerous springs and waterfalls, the most famous of which is the Hinulugang Taktak. Antipolo is also home to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, which dates back to the 17th century, and where millions of pilgrims flock to during the festivities in May.
Now, Robinsons Land Corporation is adding a new landmark -- Robinsons Place Antipolo, which will be part of a new real estate development along Sumuloing Highway in this scenic and historic city in Rizal Province.
“Robinsons Place Antipolo is part of a 16-hectare, mixed-use complex, composed of a mall, a terminal and a subdivision of Robinsons Homes,” said RLC Senior Vice President and General Manager for Commercial Centers Division Arlene G. Magtibay.
She explained that “the 2-level full service mall will provide residents the convenience of the modern malling lifestyle without having to venture too far from home.”
The mall is strategically located along Sumulong Highway at the corner of Circumferential Road, which is also near the municipalities of Rodriguez, San Mateo, Taytay, Cainta, Tanay, Teresa, and Baras.
“The close proximity of Antipolo to Metro Manila and its accessibility to other nearby towns will surely make Robinsons Place Antipolo the favorite leisure and shopping destination of the area,” said Magtibay.
Slated to open in September this year, Robinsons Place Antipolo will occupy a 5.7 hectare lot with a gross floor area of 43,000 square meters and a gross leasable area of 26,400 square meters.
The mall will have over 200 supporting tenants and anchor tenants, which include Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, Handyman, Robinsons Appliance Center, and Robinsons Bank.
It will have four digital cinemas, including one 3D cinema, an amusement center, and a food court. The mall will also have an outside parking area with a total of 604 parking slots.
Since the mall is being built 100 meters above sea level, it will take advantage of the cool climate by having plenty of alfresco areas, as well as landscape and water features to blend with the local scenery.
Antipolo is known for its rich cultural and historical heritage and it is now one of the most promising cities in the country. It is a city of pilgrims and contemplatives, tourists and traders, artists and artisans. And Robinsons Place Antipolo will only serve to add to the city's flavor and color.

Robinsons opens ‘cool’ mall in scenic Antipolo
MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Place Antipolo, set to open on Sept. 26 with a grand opening event scheduled on Nov. 15, is expected to be a game changer and a major attraction in Antipolo City, long known as the Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines and a nature getaway.
Located in a 16-hectare mixed-use complex at the junction of Sumulong Highway and Circumferential Road, the two-level mall will take up six hectares. Exuding a modern tropical look, the 38th mall of Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) was designed by Asya Design, one of the top 10 architectural firms in the Philippines.
Arlene Magtibay, RLC senior vice-president and general manager for Commercial Centers Division, said Robinsons Place Antipolo will have a positive impact on Rizal province as it will also host a new public transportation terminal.
“We’ve allocated a transport terminal that will be the new hub to decongest the city. It is a well planned depot so that it becomes more convenient for the public,” she said.
The mall will host some 200 tenants focusing on well-known brands. RLC affiliates such as Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, and Robinsons Appliance Center will serve as anchors. These will be complemented by Handyman, Toys R Us, and Daiso.
The mall will also include Robinsons Bank, Lingkod Pinoy Center for public services such as SSS, Philhealth and Pag-IBIG offices.
Robinsons Movieworld consists of four digital movie houses, including a 3D cinema, all of which have a direct access to the transport terminal. The mall is equipped with a surface parking area good for 604 slots.
“The mall experience is very relaxing. Although you’re in the middle of the bustling city proper, it provides an escape,” said Magtibay.
Architect Geoffrey Yu of Asya Design said that design works with the sloping landscape and elevation to make the most of Antipolo’s scenic beauty and cool climate.
To establish a sense of place and a bayanihan (community) spirit, the architectural firm built a “village” that looks like a cluster of modern nipa huts.
“We wanted to promote the bahay kubo (thatched hut) with natural-looking materials that blend with the terrain. Yet the building style is modern,” Yu said.
Robinsons Place Antipolo comprises an al fresco portion for the food and beverage outlets and an indoor, air-conditioned space for retail and entertainment. The façade is raised above the ground so that visitors can savor the vista of the mountains and the skyline of Metro Manila.
Magtibay noted that Robinsons Place Antipolo is a remarkable area in its proximity to important landmarks. The mall is a stone’s throw from the new Antipolo Public market and a short drive from Hinulugang Taktak, National Park, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, the Ynares Center and homes of local artists.
Ultimately, Robinsons Place Antipolo is part of a bigger development that will include a subdivision and a hotel, all of which will create a new destination.

New mall opens in Philippines' 'Pilgrimage Capital'
Robinsons Place Antipolo offers upper Antipolo residents a new community center
Robinsons Place Antipolo opened on Friday (September 26, 2014), with a grand opening event scheduled on November 15. Located at the junction of Sumulong Highway and Circumferential Road, the new mall also hosts a public transportation terminal.
Situated in a 16-hectare mixed-use complex, the 2-level center takes up 6 hectares. Exuding a modern tropical look, the 38th mall of Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) was planned by Asya Design, one of the top 10 architectural firms in the Philippines.
Arlene Magtibay, RLC Senior Vice-President and General Manager for Commercial Centers Division, says Robinsons Place Antipolo will have an impact in Rizal in many ways.
“We’ve allocated a transport terminal that will be the new hub to decongest the city. It's a well-planned depot so that it becomes more convenient for the public,” she adds.
Moreover, residents don't need to travel anymore to lower Antipolo to watch a movie or shop at their favorite stores. The new Robinsons Place in Upper Antipolo is a more convenient alternative.
The mall will host some 200 tenants focusing on well-known brands. Robinsons Land Corporation’s (RLC) affiliates such as Robinsons Department Store, Robinsons Supermarket, and Robinsons Appliance Center will serve as the anchors.
The mall will also include the Robinsons Bank, Lingkod Pinoy Center for public services such as SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-Ibig offices.
Robinsons Movieworld will consist of four digital movie houses, including a 3D cinema, all of which have a direct access to the transport terminal. Taters, a popular movie snack food outlet, also has a store near the cinema.
The mall is equipped with a surface parking area good for 604 slots.
“The mall experience is very relaxing. Although you’re in the middle of the bustling city proper, it provides an escape,” says Magtibay.
Architect Geoffrey Yu of Asya Design explains that design works with the sloping landscape and elevation to make the most of Antipolo’s scenic beauty and cool climate.

“We wanted to promote the bahay kubo (thatched hut) with natural-looking materials that blend with the terrain. Yet the building style is modern,” says Yu.
While a conventional mall is a monolith, the façade of Robinsons Place Antipolo is variegated, composed of a series of store fronts in warm colors and textures and different roof lines. The design makes the mall less of box but more of a picturesque neighbourhood.
Each store shares the same aesthetic of warm earth colors, natural finishes for a unified look. There are variations in the signage and roof line that add visual interest. Louvers, canopies and trellises shield the mall from harsh elements.
Robinsons Place Antipolo comprises an al fresco portion for the food and beverage outlets and an indoor, air-conditioned space for retail and entertainment. The façade is raised above the ground so that visitors can savor the vista of the mountains and the skyline of Metro Manila.
The garden courtyard serves as the main passage to get to the various stores. All the stores and the second floor corridor are oriented towards the garden plaza and the pathways lead to main mall.
“People lead hectic lives, so we’ve made the flow of space as simple as going from left to right and front to back. You don’t get lost inside as in many malls and get lost again in the parking area. You can either move fast or linger in the al fresco to enjoy the architecture and the view,” says Architect Yu.
Although its main market comes from Antipolo City, it will also attract residents from Baras, Tanay, Teresa, Angono, Taytay and Morong. The mall’s business can also be fuelled by domestic tourism.
