Fisher Mall opens in November

THE newest commercial shopping center called Fisher Mall is set to open in the fourth quarter of the year. Construction works on the five-story building are already 80-percent complete.

Mallers Management Corp. President Ray del Rosario said at the sidelines of the 22nd National Retail Conference and Stores Asia Expo in Pasay City that they expect to open the mall by November, in time for the Christmas season.

“We want to catch [up] in time for the Christmas fever. That’s why we’re opening in the last quarter,” he said.

“We’re still finishing the exterior, the laying out of the tiles inside and also the water [system]. So we have 24/7 construction,” he added.

The P3-billion worth Fisher Mall will soon rise at a 1.2-hectare prime property formerly occupied by the Pantranco bus terminal in Quezon City.

Featuring an eclectic design mix of utilitarian comfort and luxury, the Fisher Mall will offer an array of the latest and newest retail products and brands, whether fashion, technology and household; plus dining outlets and entertainment facilities like an arcade and state-of-the art digital cinemas.

It will, likewise, have several anchor stores, an exclusive price club and a host of services, including banking, utilities and service centers. For the shoppers’ convenience, the Fisher Mall shall provide a fully secured, three-level parking facility.

Fisher Mall was named as such to pay homage to the Del Rosario’s forefathers who started the fishing business based in Malabon. With this, it will have a fully stocked supermarket to offer the freshest fish in town as early as 7 a.m.

Del Rosario said that Fisher Mall, which can host 177 tenants, already has 75 percent occupancy. It has a gross floor area of 114,000 square meters (sq m)––of which 40,000 sq m are leasable.

“We expect our tenants and our customers to be happy and enjoy the amenities that we offer. We expect a lot of people to come in. We expect roughly around 75,000 foot traffic per day,” the company executive said.

Looking forward, he revealed that the company expects to utilize the remaining 800,000 sq m of the property to expand the mall for additional tenants and put up a hotel by 2016. The accommodation facility, he said, will be branded as Fisher Mall, with 110 rooms.

“We want to cater to the middle class. It won’t be five-star, but it will seem [like] a five-star [hotel] with a price [that is affordable],” Del Rosario stressed. “We’ll start planning by next year.”

The Fishermall is a mixed-use activity center located on a former bus terminal. With the aim to be certified as the first “green mall” in Quezon City, the design strictly follows the City Government’s Green Building Ordinance. Open decks and balconies from the upper ground floor to the third floor establish vertical connection. LED lights will be used to illuminate the façade, contributing to the attractiveness of the structure.
